
The Oyo State Government has declared a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park.
The curfew was approved by the state’s governor, Seyi Makinde, and it will go into effect on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
Professor Musibau Babatunde, the Secretary to the State Government, issued a document stating that the curfew will be in effect for the first 48 hours and run everyday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
The affected local government areas are Oriire, Oorelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba.
The state government says the decision is part of efforts to maintain security and public order.
