After weeks of increased suspicion following the kidnapping of more than forty children and teachers in the state’s Oriire local government area, the Hausa community in Ibadan, Oyo State, organized a protest against ethnic profiling.
The protesters said it was wrong to label an entire ethnic group as criminals because of the actions of suspected k!dnappers.
They urged the public and security services to pursue real offenders instead of targeting innocent locals because of their ethnicity or tribe.
They claim that the Hausa people of Ibadan are law-abiding Nigerians who likewise desire justice, safety, and peace.
