Local Businesses Will Benefit From The Ibadan Marathon, Says Makinde

The stage is set for the maiden edition of the Ibadan Marathon, scheduled to take place on November 2, 2024, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The goal of the marathon, according to Arinola Idowu, CEO of Savvy Events, is to celebrate the vibrant city spirit, strength, and unity of Ibadan while establishing Oyo State as a modern center for sports, business, and entertainment.

In- addition, to promote the city’s rich cultural heritage, foster local businesses, create job opportunities, and strengthen community service.

The event aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration agenda on infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and social welfare.

Registration and Prize Details

Interested participants can register for free at the athletics office of the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.

The marathon features 42.195km and 10km fun race, with winners receiving attractive prizes:

Elite Runners (male and female):

$10,000 – 1st

$8,000 – 2nd

$6,000 – 3rd

$4,000 – 4th

$2,000 – 5th

Nigerian Runners (male and female):

N3 million (1st), N2 million (2nd), N1.5 million (3rd), N1.2 million (4th), and N1 million (5th)

The Ibadan Marathon will start at 7 am for the 42.195km and 10 am for the 10km fun race on November 2, with both races ending at the Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, expressed the state’s support for the event, highlighting its potential to promote health and fitness, open up local economy, and showcase Ibadan’s beauty.
